Classic Sunrise Cruise
A two-and-a-half-hour sailing that leaves in darkness, reaches the widest bend as the sky begins to colour, and drifts home through clearing mist. No experience or equipment is needed: the crew points out what is happening, the boat holds position wherever the view deserves it, and passengers are free to photograph, sketch or simply watch with a cup of coffee. Blankets, waterproofs, hot drinks and pastries are included, the group is capped at eight, and the trip returns to the same landing in time for the rest of the day to continue as planned.
Dedicated Photography Departures
Sailings built entirely around image-making, limited to five participants so that each has a working position with space for a tripod. The skipper positions the hull by sun angle and drift rather than schedule, holds still for long exposures, and returns to any spot that is working. A photographer-guide advises throughout on metering, focus in low contrast, filters and composition in flat light. Charging points, dry storage, spare cards and lens cloths are on board, and an optional review session over breakfast afterwards helps participants select and edit their strongest frames.
Weekend Photography Workshops
Two- and three-day courses combining early sailings with classroom sessions in a riverside studio. Content covers exposure in fog and backlight, long-exposure water, working with silhouettes, colour management in low light, field workflow and a full editing walkthrough from raw file to finished print. Groups stay under six, loan tripods and filters are available, and accommodation can be arranged nearby. Participants finish with an edited portfolio of their own images, printed proofs of two frames and written feedback on technique and sequencing from the tutor.
Private Charters and Small Events
The whole boat can be reserved for families, photography clubs, small companies or a quiet celebration, with route, timing and pace decided by the group. Charters may include breakfast served on deck once the sun is up, a guided commentary on the shoreline's history and wildlife, or complete silence for those who simply want the water to themselves. We arrange transfers from the city, accessible boarding, dietary requirements and bilingual guiding, and we can supply a photographer to document the morning rather than teach it.
Wildlife and Birdwatching Mornings
Sailings led by a naturalist and timed for the hour when herons, cormorants, grebes and kingfishers are most active along the banks. The boat moves at idle between roosts and feeding shallows, holding at a respectful distance while a spotting scope and loan binoculars are passed around. Guides explain behaviour, seasonal movements and how the mist itself changes where birds settle. Species recorded on each trip are logged for a regional survey, and passengers receive the list by email along with notes on where to return later in the season on foot.
Commissions, Filming and Print Sales
We support film crews, agencies and publishers needing dawn footage on the water, providing boats, skippers, local permissions, safety cover and knowledge of exactly where and when the conditions occur. Services include stabilised platform hire, drone launch assistance where permitted, transport of heavy equipment and scouting reports with sample images from previous seasons. Our own archive of shoreline work is available for licensing, and a selection of hand-finished prints from these reaches can be ordered directly through the office, framed or unframed.
